Tuesday: Mike Nisbet @ King Tut’s, Glasgow
Mike Nisbet‘s music is incredibly graceful (and is getting more so with age), so much so it’s quite hard to really express how much I like it, because it just doesn’t feel like words like ‘outstanding’ and ‘blinding’ really apply to this kind of mellow music.
It’s hard for any songwriter to pull off this solo acoustic style, but Mike does it with such calculated coolness and Rufus Wainwright-esque deep vocals, that the genuine passion is portrayed in a very collected manner. As I say, a hard style to pull off, but the right amount of personality and honesty can really bring it to light, which the Glasgow man does brilliantly.
His debut album’s due out roughly round about the kinda near future, and I really cannot wait. His Coffee & Cigarettes EP was good, but the new stuff’s sounding even better.

Greetings, it’s a lovely sunny saturday and I’m glad it’s light in the morning, the hibernation is over.
last night I got a message from my older brother telling me there was a great singer songwriter on BBC4 last night, Ron Sexsmith. He has now become one of my favorite singers ever and I’ve only been aware of his work for 15 hours! please o check this guy out, 11 albums, I’m annoyed I’ve not heard of him before
I’d recommend ‘Secret Heart’ (Feist fans will know this one) & ’Right About Now’
Anyways, Tuesday night I will be supporting Dead Rock west at King Tut’s and would love to see you there, get in touch for tickets, got a few left, so be quick.
So happy it is sunny!
Mike
